“Despite the fact that José Luis Lafarga and I have been friends for many years, I have to admit that I never really appreciated the importance of his furniture.
Back on the seventies, more than 80% of our high-fidelity installations were for people with a high purchasing power. They were placed in luxuriously decorated rooms with a special “space” (usually an extortionately expensive piece of furniture with shelves) already designated for their High-End equipment.
Specialist furniture for sound equipment didn’t exist then as it didn’t seem very important within the high fidelity chain, and even I didn’t have this culture instilled in me.
More recently, from the eighties onwards, when the esoteric high fidelity culture was being extended into other social segments – especially with young people – more people began to use a “separate unit” for their High End equipment.
In 2002, whilst carrying out a reinstallation of an old piece of equipment, a customer showed interest in the qualities of the Artesanía-Audio units that his son had persistently recommended. So I decided to carry out a serious test to compare the results against other units from other countries. The difference was mind-blowing, and the truth is I was quite ashamed.
I rang José Luis immediately to apologize for not having used his furniture before, even when he had mentioned various models to me, and confessed that I had never thought that a piece of furniture could be so influential to the final auditory sound.
Since that day I have been proposing the Artesanía-Audio units and fittings to my customers, in many cases as a solution to technical problems in existing installations. I can honestly say that as these units truly produce a musical setting that is so clean and neutral that I can no longer think of installing a High End system without one. “
