Hi Manuel and Alberto who expressed their interest in dampers.

They say a picture speaks a thousand words….but in this case you have to hear the results. For many owners of domestic sound equipment these “coasters” may seem ludicrous, but they are totally logical and they have demonstrated their worth to me and many other forum users.

With a good rack or unit that provides decoupling points for the electronics, these little metallic devils are the perfect accessory to eliminate vibrations that can result from actually using this specialist furniture. They are also useful against other elements such as magnetic fields that transformers generate and also have influence on ultra-sensitive electronics such as YBA.

The result is as good as that achieved by changing from a standard piece of house furniture to a specialist unit like mine or yours; cleaner, more transparent sound with better tone, more defined lower tones etc.

These are the results that I have noticed in my particular case however, you can never generalize as each situation is different depending upon the room, the equipment and the person.

I have two dampers on the player, two on the amplifier and two on the power amp in order to cover the ideal area, i.e. more or less above the transformers. On one CD player there is a small transformer behind the CD drawer and the other is inside where there looks to be a tangle of condensers and large coils; it doesn’t matter too much if they are out by a couple of centimetres either way.

Come and listen to the results; I’m sure that even though you may not be used to my sound equipment, you’ll notice the difference.

All the best
